UNE PIER CONTROVERSY

This page features links to several of the in-depth stories I wrote about a controversial pier project being proposed by the University of New England in Biddeford.

My reporting on this issue began in the spring of 2024 while working as a freelance reporter for Saco Bay News. Less than six months later, my publisher pulled me off the story, saying she had received complaints from the university about my reporting.

University officials — including Dr. James Herbert, and senior spokesperson Sarah Delage — say they never asked to have me removed from reporting on the issue, despite what I was told by the SBN publisher.

These stories were all originally published on the Saco Bay News website between May 4 and August 1, 2024.
