SITE HISTORY:
I created this site as a personal blog in 2012. It was then called All Along the Watchtower in honor of my former newspaper column of the same name. At that time, I was working with one of Maine’s most influential PR consulting firms, but I missed writing news and opinion pieces about my hometown.
A few years later, I decided to begin my own, independent consulting firm and reorganized the site to become Randy Seaver Consulting in 2018.
Just two years later, I was presented with an opportunity to go back to what I love: working as a freelance reporter and local pundit in my hometown. Once again, I renamed the site. Lessons In Mediocrity was designed to refuel my blog and market my writing services.
In November 2024 — for a variety of reasons — I decided to launch the Biddeford Gazette with the goal of filling some local media gaps and having some fun while giving the community a fresh perspective regarding both Biddeford City Hall and the Maine Legislature.
I have no idea about what lies ahead, but — the same as this site — I will be open to change and ready to tackle whatever falls onto my pathway.
